Introduction to Green Office Environment Programs

Going Solar Green Office Environment provides a consulting service for councils, schools and businesses that need assistance in becoming sustainable organisations. We can make recommendations on products and practices. If you are keen to make positive changes in your organisation, Going Solar is able to provide advice and support and to show the shortcuts to becoming a 'green' organisation.

Going Solar Environment encourages the practical implementation of sustainable technologies in the wider community through local government and businesses. Reduced consumption, sustainable purchasing and green products and services form the foundation that promotes awareness through action.

Living a more sustainable lifestyle can dramatically reduce our impact on the environment and at the same time provide significant financial savings. As a tenant in the 60L Green Building, Going Solar is aware of the benefits and advantages of working in an environment that has achieved benchmark results in water conservation, energy reduction, recycled and sustainable fit-outs, and waste management.

Summary of Green Office Environment Programs

  • The Energy Saver
Focuses on the reduction of energy consumption within the workplace

  • The Paper Cull
Can assist organizations and their staff to reduce their paper consumption

  • Wasted Away
Reducing the amount of waste going to landfill by recycling certain waste streams

  • Eco-Purchasing
Long term, environmentally friendly, purchasing practices

  • The Water Sorter
Reduction of water being used by systems, equipment and people

Any program (or part thereof) may be implemented in an organisation. It is recommended, however, that the following actions are undertaken with any program chosen:

  • Staff introduction (program is more likely to succeed with staff input and support at all levels)

  • Prize and effort analysis (What do you get for your effort?)

  • Initial audit

  • Benchmarking process (to identify future savings and improvements)

  • Communication strategy to keep staff informed (should not be complicated!)

  • Policy

  • Staff awareness program

  • Staff training program

  • Actions to reduce impact documented, monitored and reported on

  • Overall monitoring

  • Communicating results to all staff levels

An organisation may wish to devise its own program, encompassing aspects important to them, or to their staff.
